A Telangana business's compliance calendar combines central obligations — company law, income tax, TDS and GST — with state-specific ones that are easy to miss. This guide covers the state layer. Dates and amounts change, so confirm current rules with the relevant department.

Professional Tax

Telangana levies Professional Tax under its state Professional Tax Act. Employers with employees in Telangana must register, deduct Professional Tax from salaries at the prescribed slab rates, pay it monthly, and file returns. Businesses and professionals also need enrolment and pay their own Professional Tax annually.

Labour Welfare Fund

Under the Telangana Labour Welfare Fund Act, employers contribute annually for each eligible employee, with a smaller employee contribution. Check the current amount and due date with the Labour Welfare Board.

Shops and Establishments

Offices, shops and commercial establishments in Telangana need registration under the state Shops and Establishments Act, with changes notified to the Labour Department. Keep registers and display requirements in mind.

Industrial Approvals

  • Factory licence renewals under the Factories Act.
  • Consent to Operate from the Telangana State Pollution Control Board.
  • Fire NOC renewals.
  • Boiler, lift and other equipment certifications.

Many of these are processed through TG-iPASS (formerly TS-iPASS). Track expiry dates and file renewals early.

Local Body Obligations

  • Trade licence from GHMC or the relevant municipality, renewed annually.
  • Property tax on business premises.

GST in Telangana

Telangana's GST state code is 36. Quarterly QRMP filers in Telangana file GSTR-3B by the 22nd of the month after the quarter. Businesses with units in other states must manage each state GSTIN separately.

Central Obligations

Add the central calendar: TDS deposits and returns, advance tax, GST returns, PF and ESI, ROC filings and income tax returns.
